Abstract: In this study, effects of the feed density, coal slime content and magnetite particle size on static stability of a dense medium drum was investigated. In this paper, a parameter defined as the density differential value between the lower and upper portion of suspension is used to characterize the static stability. The actual data collected from the tests were used to construct the empirical model representing density differential as process responses to the independent variables. The significance test of model fit for density differential was performed using analysis of variance (ANOVA). The results showed that the density differential model was significant. The research has shown that with an increase in feed density and coal slime content stability of dense medium enhances. |
